Sharp Suits and Hard Sells.

It feels like the whole world is talking about Mad Men at the minute, as the show enters it's fourth series awards are simply being knocked down like skittles as the drama shows no signs of letting up.

For those of you living under a rock, it is a show about the employees of Sterling Cooper, a fictional advertising agency based on Madison Avenue in the early 1960's, and it's ace. The attention to period styling, decor and technology makes the whole experience stunning visually, and the masculine posturing and heavily outdated views on women's rights, religion and race allow for excellent writing and superb dialogue. The only downside I'd put to the show is that it makes me want to smoke. And drink. A lot.

  1. The suits are extremely nice!
It glamorises the early advertising industry and animates the main characters lives in and out of the "Ad" world. The scandals, the cheating and the unhappiness of certain marriages and people living at such a sexist, homophobic time.

The art direction is flawless. Brilliant.
